Hi everybody I am new one right here. This forum was very useful for me. Thanks Zaf and everybody share your experience right here. Can anyone advise me where can find the information about vintage military LeCoultre. Any site or book can recommand for me? Cause of Ebay with many fake inside. I don't know which is real one. I know some famous style like MARK 11 and some military use cal 478. Any information of other style ? Thank you very much. |

Hi Wroy12 your is a good question. So far we're all missing a fit and complete JLC vintage book. And we must navigate through the net infos. To recognize a mil JLC one should check about the presence of mil engravings on the case back. Empirical and it won't help all the times but I think it's a good point to start with. Time ago I obtained a RAF Mk 11 and I wore it every day. That romance sent me on the mil JLCs tracks. I take the chance of your question for a collection pic. Not complete, anyway from left : 1) Le Coultre Air Ministry 6B/159, '42 issued cal. JLC 450 2) JLC RAF 6B/159, '43 cal.470 3)Suspect Luftwaffe JLC cal. 463, late 30s / early 40s. Don't take this as a sure military. Only conjectures so far 4) JLC British Army nearly '44, cal. 479 5) and 6) post war JLC Mk 11 6B/346, RAF and RAAF, on both the same cal. 488/Sbr

Wow, I had no idea there was a JLC 6B/159, let alone two different types! Is this it for Military JLCs, or are there more? Lovely collection BTW. JD |

Wow, I had no idea there was a JLC 6B/159, let alone two different types! I thought they were all Omegas. Is the JLC version rare by comparison? Is this it for Military JLCs, or are there more? Lovely collection BTW. JD |

Thanks! I was just Googling - any idea why there appears to be both a JLC and a LeCoultre 6B/159? I thought Le Coultre were just the U.S market name for JLCs and had different cases as a rule? Very strange. |

Ilja : Whats KNIL and A.D.R.I. ? never heard of that. Then in addition to your list, theres the AM 6e/50 pocket watch(es) two different non lumnious dials. And of course GSTPs came in both black and white lumnious dial. Then the 6b/159 -56 AM recase should be on the list too. |

Hi Ojj, KNIL were the Dutch forces in south east Asia. A.D.R.I is the regular Indonesian army. Google for both. Zaf and I having some doubts about the recased 56 watches, but they *could* be real. |

My opinion on the re-cased 56s (not a JLC case) has changed over the years. I think they do exist, however, the movement is far from fitting the case well, a hideous retainer ring holds the movement more or less in place and the dials are redone. It's a lousy watch. Of the 56s, it's the worst one and the fit of the movement is so poor, it's not worthy of being considered a JLC product. |

I quite like mine 56 ! Being rare and all. All the 56s are recases and if AM or RAF made it like that it still a genuine issued watch, as are the Omegas and the others. A bad fit cant deduct from that imo. Claudio posted up in this thread a wonderful collection. But whats the opinion on nr. 3 being a Luftwaffe watch from the experts here ? Ive noticed that these cal 463 have corresponding movement and case number. Is this what makes some think that they are issued watches ? Are there any other reason to believe in this. I saw a post on forum that one of these was found in a german airplane from ww2. And over the years most of these have surfaced on German ebay. As Zaf knows my wife walks around with one of these, but if its issued I better take it back ;-) |

My wife has taken a liking to vintage Rolex Submariners after years of never wearing a watch. Incredible. |
