I was offered the above watch which I had some queries. It is 17J full rotor and the shape is similar to the Omega barrel shape constellation but bigger in size. One of my friends said it is not a real one. His point is le coultre never makes a DD model and the movement is AS cal.1916 which is not supposed to be lecoultre style i.e. lecoultre seldom buy movement from the outsider. the movement does not have serial no. The original dail has JLC logo and wordings and there are lecoultre markings on the rotor and the inside case back. My question if this is a real LC production or something after market.

At a very minium you have an incorrect movement. LeCoultre as far as I know has made all of their movements in house with the exception of their chronographs which used either Universal Geneve or Valjoux ebauche (raw movements).

What do you mean by "DD"? Double date?

'DD' stands for Day/Date. Sorry for the abbreviation. Would it be a kind of the Master Mariner series?

There are double date JLC/LC movements, probably from 1970 on, but not made by A. Schild. They would be JLC signed, made by JLC, etc.

Another exception, the first Reverso did not use a JLC made movement, but one made by Tavannes I believe.

Charles, I had a watch just like yours, with exactly the same caliber. I also wondered if it was real or not, but never found it out. I bought it in a lot in an auction in London, and sold it here in Portugal.

Frederico, thanks input. This 'mystery' watch makes me confused. One of my friends show me another piece which is exactly the same and come with an original stainless steel JLC bracelet. Said that he is the first hand owner of that watch which cost him USD400 in the early 70s.

Yes, it got the AS logo and '1916' under the balance wheel. The automatic rotor and the inside case back signed 'LeCoultre'. There are two serial nos. on the outside case back also.

There isnt any serial number on the movement. It is only marked as LeCoultre Co, 17 Jewels, Swiss. There are 2 line of serial numbers on the outside case back. The first line is E0300405 and the second line is 1242202.

OK, I am almost certain the movement is not correct, even if oher people have the same watch. In my opinion they are all fakes or partial fakes. I've seen the same fakes in the Omega brand in the past, and Rolex & Cartier of course.

Hi All,

so both watches have "Club" on the dial? - If so, they are orininal. -As far I can tell from the distance.- JLC produced "low budget" watches in the early 70s. This line of watches was called the Club series.
Nearly all watches in the Club series used A. Schild movements.
To top it, a few were certified Chronometers...

Best regards,

Ilja

Hi,
I have a very similar watch, all characteristics seem identical to the ones described above except mine is in gold. The serial numbers are 1288505 and 0300801. I was wondering what its value is, and theoretically what would be its value if it were in better condition.

Thanx

From a collector point of view, the "Clubs" are some of the least dersirable JLCs given the generic A. Schild movements. So I'm going to say $350-$450 depending on condition in gold. It may sell for more to someone thinking that these have the quality of all JLC efforts.

Thanks, a bit disapointed.
I was hoping that even though its a club the gold would make it a bit more valuable.
Nevertheless its a beauty.
Thanks again.
