Hi there. I'm new to the forum and have this question. This was my Grandad's. My dad bought it for him. Dad can't remember much about the watch. I found it with a broken crown. A repair was made which included "sleeving" the winding stem and adding a Seiko crown. I know, sacrilege. However, finding a proper stem and crown for this guy is tough. I've had quotes but it seems steep. Can anyone get a stem for an calibre 818/cw movement? Crown for same?

The watch runs and keeps decent time. The only thing I've been told by a watch maker/restorer friend of mine is that the winding stem shows some rust (probably from moisture getting in at one time) although the movement looks relatively good. Could use cleaning, etc. I'mt trying to replace the stem with a NOS or ?

I'm told Audemars Piguet 2001 or 2003 movement of same era is interchangeable and that Le Coultre used these movements with their name on them. True? Also which model is this and what about value if I have it repaired correctly, dial refinished, etc?? Thanks

In general, the winding stems are available, the crowns are not. If they are interchangeable with AP, it is LeCoultre that made the AP movement, not the other way around.

where do I get a winding stem for an 818 movement? Value of repaired watch (it runs now with sleeved stem)? Model/style of watch? (I know its an ultrathin probably from 50's or 60's). Thanks

Any of the parts suppliers should have it Jules Borel, Casker, Ofrei, etc. You can find their contact info on google.
