I "think" I have inherited a lecoultre watch. How do I determine its authenticity without having it appraised by a professional?

I will do so. Can you tell me if there is any meaning to the engraved letters (below) on the back of the casing?

What can you tell me? Thank you in advance for detailed information as I know nothing about this watch other than its prominence.

It seems to have been serviced, based on the engravings on the inside case:

1970,1981,1982,2002

It's an american market watch dating to about 1952. GregB may know what the model name is.
