What you have a is 1956 JLC RAF 6b/159.

This is a controversial watch. It is a recased 1940s JLC 6B/159 fitted in a non JLC case. There is some doubt as to whether this ever existed or if it's just a put togther from parts.

It is possible that this was done with JLCs, as the same occured with WWII era Longines and Omegas, but in the case of the JLC, the movement fit is pretty questionable as is the dial diameter which requires a big crystal ring in order for it to work.

In any event, I'm not saying it's necessarily a fake, just that the jury's still out on this one. I've seen the watch 4-5 times now vs about 100 Omegas and about 20 Longines.

Hi again. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction in order to have the watch authenticated/ valued, in the UK.

Thanks

Matt

I don't think this will be possible unless you dig out records from the RAF. The watch started off life as one of these:

Then the Brits would have taken the movement & dial, repainted it and stuck it into a non JLC case. The fit and finish are poor compared to similar Omegas & Longines and that is why it is controversial. Since all of this happened outside the knowledge of JLC, they will have no record of these watches, therefore these are difficult to authenticate.

Personally I do not buy these, but where they do sell, they're in the $400 to $600 range.
