I got this vintage JLC from my father-in-law, who found it in a house he bought 10 years ago. I dont know anything about the history, and it looks more or less beaten up. Scratches all over, new cheap strap and some damage on the glass as well.

But I still think the watch is quite nice and has a certain potential. I therefore plan to give it a total makeover. New JLC strap, have it polished, give the movement a complete service and even considering putting on a sapphire glass if possible.

I then have two questions.

1. Does any of you have some information about this watch (the backside has a number printed; 1271608)?
2. Would you put a sapphire glass on this piece?

I would be grateful for any comments or inputs.

Looks like a early 1970's JLC Memovox. The watch does have an alarm feature, don't know if you noticed that.

I don't think you could put a sapphire crystal on the watch. It would be difficult to source a replacement plastic crystal at this point in time. Your watchmaker would be the best source for replacement or polishing of the crystal.

Hope this helps,
