In the past other famous watchmakers used JLC movements as their own. I know VC is one of them. Who else? Does JLC still supply its movements to others today? Thanks. |

Thanks, Zaf. My impression from reading this forum is that during those older years (say 1950s), VC or PP products are more expensive than JLC. Why didn't JLC do more with its casing and sell for the same prices as those other brands? Was selling ebauches was a big portion of JLC's business, and so in order not to directly competing with these other brands, JLC decided to put some what less into casings and sold for less? Or it's simply because JLC was the one that produced the movements and so they can sell the same products for less? |

Good question, but I really do not know the answer to this. I'd imagine JLC felt it could sell more by being both an ebauche supplier and a brand in itself. By not "super finishing" the JLC product to V & C levels, they would not compete with their customers. That would be my guess. |
