I have given up trying to locate a vintage gold JLC buckle, and have opted instead for a generic 18K buckle.

So the question is, how does one go about replacing a buckle on a leather strap? What I have consists of three parts: buckle, tongue and axle. So what do I do now? Just go to a shop, or is this a DIY thing?

Thanks

DIY. If the buckle has holes on the side, you can push the spring bar with a pin. If it doesn't have holes, you'll need a thin knife to compress the spring bar in order to release the buckle.
