Here are some pics from an auction I did participate in, but I did send the watch back that time because the movement was rusted (instead of "completely overhauled" as stated by the seller). Here is some information from a mail from JLC: Referenz : E 391 Kaliber 880 Herstellungsdatum : 1960 Gehaeuse nr : 830806 Werksnummer : 1463222 However: JLC was not sure about the case to be original...

Stefan, thank you for starting a new thread. I've tried to find references to Superautomatic but so far the only thing that matches is Mido. So you sent those photos to JLC for them to confirm and they provided you with the above answers? By the way, if the dial has been refinished, would JLC have indicated so when they replied? |

Hi Marty - yes, I did sent the pics to them, and they provided those answers. I think the dial was original, but I doubt JLC would ever comment on that if they do not have the watch at hand - only in case of a crude rework or fake. BTW: the superautomatic is rather small - around 30mm? |

Another BTW: you will find the JLC Superautomatic by searching the Antiquorum online catalogues. |

Thanks, Stefan. When you mentioned 30mm, do you mean the movement diameter? Or the case diameter? 30mm case diameter is pretty small for a man wristwatch these days. |

Thanks Stefan. Looking at the Antiquorum site you suggested, it was pretty pricey at the hammer. Did you pay something like that when you won it? |

I did not pay overly much - but too much considering the rust, so I did send the watch back... The movement 880 is generally speaking excellent. But it is right what you said: too small for a mans wrist. |

Looking at Antiquorum's rating, they actually think the dial is original. They have a rating for the dial being restored, but they didn't use that on the watch. So may be there really is such a thing as JLC Superautomatic. |
