You don't see too many of these and this one needs quite a bit of work. Any comments? http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-RARE-Jaeger-LeCoultre-Memovox-Polaris-le-coultre_W0QQi temZ280131691260QQihZ018QQcategoryZ31387QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |

Besides the obvious dial/bezel, crown (and overal beat-up condition) problems, that case back is completely wrong. There is no alarm post at all for the hammer to sound against. It should have an inner back with a hole where the alarm post from the outer back protrudes. Greg |

I had a feeling I would get a response. Herman your one word response says it all. Thanks. I read through all of the auction and it's amazing how some people regard themselves as doing you a favor by giving the history and statistics on a watch that obviously needs help. I will say that this is the first Polaris I found since I registered on the Bay and I am not impressed. Greg your quick glimps on the subject is impressive, I bet if you saw it in person, you could add a bit more work, I'm sure. I wonder if the movement number match up etc. I like the part where the seller says all of it is in working order. I guess the alarm post isn't needed after all? ;) What about those slots that are cut out in the case bezel where the case back goes. Wierd... |

Well, it still fetched > $4000. Assuming the factory has all the parts (that's a big IF), you can get it restored there for $3000. Not that bad a deal. |

Zaf- Good Point. If it's basically a Polaris and not a Franken, the factory assuming they have parts as you say, could restore it. That would be a savings of at least $1000 US from the prices I have seen regarding a Polaris. It would be up to the factory to determine. That would be quite interesting to know if it was a good gamble or not. |

If the inner rotating bezel was intact, it would have been a good deal. I don't think the factory has them though. The outside perforated case back is missing too, those may be in very short supply. So yeah, a gamble, stakes were too high for me. |

OIC your point. The case is okay since the original case back locks into those slots if I am not mistaken. I had forgotten what a Polaris looks like since it has been over a year for me. I gave up trying to find one cheap. Like winning the lottery would be less of a challenge. The 825 movement looks okay though. |
