I just came across this forum by chance while looking for a new watch and would really appreciate some help.

I very nearly just bought this, but changed my mind last minute.
I know what I like the look of but just don't have the knowledge to tell if anything is right or not.
Could someone tell me if this was teh real deal, I assume it was, and if it was worth getting at that price.

thanks.

It's pretty difficult to fake these watches as the movements are quite unique.

However, there are a number of problems I see with this watch:

1. The two crowns are mismatched and it's very tough to find new original crowns.

2. The dial looks just a little too clean. A US market LeCoultre would have "Swiss" not "Swiss Made" at the bottom. I smell a redial here. Not that its a terrible thing, it's just that this seller received top Euro for the watch. At that price, I'd expect total originality.

3. Not sure if the hands are original either. See 2. above.

You did well to let this one pass. Spend some time on the internet and look at a few hundred Memovoxes. You'll figure out what looks right and what does not.

Good luck and happy hunting,
gatorcpa

Definitely a refinished dial. The lettering isn't right and the center dial on these models had a different finish (usually satin silver or gold) and didn't match the finish of the outer dial as this one does. The hands are also definitely incorrect as gatorcpa speculated.

Thanks alot for the response.

The problem with letting it go was that it looks so sexy it was causing me distress.

I thought it looked to clean as well - as you say, you just get a feeling eh?

So for what it was, it was fairly overpriced then?
