Hi Sverker, your watch is a ref. 23302 (as shown on the back). The movement: Caliber 352 32768 Herz/seceond Antimagnetic, Direct center second, hack feature, instantaneous date change, rapid date corrector. For collectors these watches are not important, since they are Quartz powered. Kind of JLCs dark side... Ilja

Hi Ilja, Thank you for your answer! I had a feeling that the Quartz-era was some kind of a dark period for JLC :-) Do you know were I can find pictures or information regarding the models? And the price? How much is it worth? Best regards and have a nice day! /Sverker |

Master Quartz watches, depending on condition, sell from $100 to $400. Difficult to estimate because there is no real market for these. I have your watch pictured in a 1970s dealer catalog, will try to post a scan asap. Ilja |

Yes, the Quartz era were the dark days for many companies, JLC went from having 850 employees in the 1950s to 200 in the late 1970s. |

Hi, I have a JLC master quartz 18K gold watch with gold rolex strap and wondered if anyone could advise me on it's value or where I could take it to be valued. I have a feeling it is worth more as scrap @(very sad) but still don't know where to take it. I live in the London UK and am trying to raise money for an engagement ring. I would be very grateful for any advice, many thanks. Barnaby |

Hi Barnaby, Master Quartz watches sell very low, even if they are solid gold. The Rolex bracelet could be your advantage to get some money for it. You can check this guy in London, he is a good friend and fellow JLC collector: "Buy Yourself Some Time" operated by Martyn Stamp Admiral Vernon Gallery Portobello Road, London Im not sure if he will buy it, but probably can direct you to someone else who will. I just inherited(sp) a master quartz, and am looking to get the band expanded, my grandfather had tiny wrists, and was wondering if there is a US service center or number. I live in a tiny town in Oklahoma and there doesn't appear to be a JLC dealer in a 100 miles in any direction. Any info would be great, I don't want to sell it, but I can't wear it right now either. |

There is a US service center but I suspect they will not sell you an indidiual piece for your braclet unless you send the whole thing to them and the cost will be PROHIBITIVE! What does the buckle side of the strap look like? Maybve we can adapt something to give you a little more room. |

Hi, Some time ago, I sent my JLC Master Quartz (Well, not mine exactly...I inherited it from my Grand-Dad) to the JLC Service Center. Not knowing what I was going for, I readily agreed when they called me some time later to tell me the local Service Center did not have the parts and/or expertise to service the watch. They had to send the watch back to JLC Factory to have it serviced. They (the JLC factory) completely overhauled my watch (changed movement, changed dial, cosmetic touch-ups, etc.). Finally, they called me to say the watch is ready for colleciton BUT the cost of repair comes to approx. us$300!!! Is that cost of repair reasonable or "cut-throat"? The Master Quartz collection does not hold a high value nowadays (since it is quartz movement) but due to sentiment reasons, I definitely have to pay for the repairs. Any comments/suggestions on this ? Thanks for your time. Cheers - GearFanatik :-( |

$300 for a Le Sentier restoration/service is THE LOWEST quotation from them I have ever heard of. Sounds like a good deal to me, they usually charge $1000 and up. Go for it. |
