Hey everyone. Well my Grandfather passed away and left me a LeCoultre watch. Thing is i have no clue what type it is. It says 18K on the back of the watch area with some engraving i can not make out. On the front it has 14 diamonds in the dial area. 1 diamong at every five minute mark but two diamonds at the 3/6/ and 9 marks. It is white gold and sits on a 14K white gold strap. It also says Swiss at the bottom of the front dial.

It came with the original green case which on the inside has a gold diamond shape that reads LeCoultre "the finest watches in all the world" or such.

Please any help would be appreciated. I love this thing but just want to know more on it so i can give it a timeframe etc.

Also i believe the battery is dead or something. Can i get this replaced? If so how much would that run?

Thanks in advance,
-Matthew

This is the closest picture of the watch i could find on the internet showing the front area. The one i have is about the same except it says swiss at the bottom and the outer white gold area around the dial itself is a different style gold weave?
Watch

Here is the watch i have in my possession. It is a bad photo because i do not have my camera at this moment. I used my cellphone to take a quick shot of the case.

This is a diamond dial, textured bezel leCoultre watch from the 1960s. It probably has a 17 jewel manual-wind mechanical movement (no battery).

Have you tried winding it by turning the crown clockwise? It needs to be fully wound up (till the crown will turn no further) to run properly. If it does not wind then it may already be fully wound but not running. In this case, the watch needs to be serviced (likely that the old lubrication in the watch has turned to a glue-like substance from age or something is amiss with the movement).

Jimh thank you so much for identifying this. Yea I wound it up and it worked perfectly! It ticks really strong. Seems my Grandfather took superb care of it. Out of curiosity how much does one of these go for? I plan to keep it forever but i am curious. THanks so much again!
