I recently purchased a vintage LeCoultre. After doing some preliminary research on it, I had some questions on the manufacture date so I sent the info off to Ilja Probst in Germany. Here is his reply. No need to post pictures, as the links are exact duplicates of what I purchased. Thanks again, Ilja! Hello Evan, your watch is an original "Patton" US-market LeCoultre. A similar can be found here:

http://www.classicwatch.com/graphics/rb0029.jpg Or here (other hand style):
http://www.classicwatch.com/graphics/mpt0256.jpg For the different hand style, it is not uncommon that the style changed over the years of production. We have observed this on several models. This was probably done following the customers taste. So from a collecting point of view these hands and the watch itself is original. You movement serial dates to 1953. The Caliber indication could also read "K"480 CW, if there is also a leading "K" this indicates Kif-flector shock protection for the balance. CW indicates a special movement type, but due to a upcoming publication I cant tell you what it means yet. Not important for this particular watch anyway. It is impossible to track the case number since it is US made. There are no reports left. D&A is the sub-contract, US located, case manufacturer. If you are going to post somewhere, please give credits to Zaf Bashas vintage watch price guide; http://www.vintagewatchpriceguide.com ; there the scans do come from. Best regards, Ilja Probst
