Hello, I would very much appreciate any help to find out, should I buy this watch or not? It has a JLC K825 movement, signed by Gübelin, but the clockface is a classical JLC Memovox. Movement serial: 1599594 (movement is in fine condition) It's possible, that this watch originally came out with this face, or it have to be a subsequent amendments? Thanks in advance, Akos

I'd expect GUBELIN somewhere on the dial, if the movement says Gubelin. Maybe even a Gubelin Ipsovox dial. |

Finally, I bought, its such a beauty You can see more pictures here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fja5fd1v0vs8zv2/AABKJNihgaLzqt4dzlEXgZPya?dl=0 The title on the back inside also strange: it has LeCoultre but Gübelin Ipsovox factory engraving too. I don't think that this watch came off with this watch face, it is possible of course, but i doubt. However, replace the watch face isnt easy or cheap, this intervention not increase the value particularly, why would someone do that? It seems, this story remain a mystery But, can you please identify the year of manufacture by this ID-s? Movement type: K825 Movement serial: 1599594 Case serial: 910379 I would be very grateful |

It could be that the original dial was in such terrible condition that to make the watch usable again, a new or refinished dial was in order. If the watchmaker had a service dial handy, or even a convenient donor watch, that might have been the preferred choice over having it refinished. Yes, it does hurt the value of the watch as a collectible. But it doesn't hurt it at all as a watch you can wear and enjoy. Rick "suspecting the purchase price took this into account" Denney |

But it doesn't hurt it at all as a watch you can wear and enjoy - absolutely agree, thats why I bought it. Im not a collector, Im going to wear it, and this clockface is one of the most beautiful version of Memovox I've ever seen. Thank you very much for the comments & informations. |
