Hi There,

Another watch I've been quite interested in is the JLC Triple Date of the 1940's.

I've sourced one locally here: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-jewelry-watch/city-of-toronto/vintage-lecoultre-triple-da te-14k-gold-watch-teardrop-lugs-1940/602129994

Frankly, I believe the asking price to be quite high. I was wondering if this can be attributed to anything in particular?

This is one of very few examples I've found signed "LeCoultre" rather than "Jaeger LeCoultre".

Furthermore, what is the difference in rarity between this model made in SS, yellow and red gold?

Christie's is currently selling a pink gold model (french dial) at $6000, but I assume that it carries a premium due to the metal (and perhaps because its Christie's).

Any education on the watch would be much appreciated.

Based on the image in this thread: http://www.classicwatch.com/discus/messages/622/1899.html , which I believe to be the original dial, this one of course (and unfortunately looks like a redial). None the less I'd still love to learn more about it, in particular the 3 case metals used.

Sounds very expensive for a 14k one with a refinished dial. This is 18k pink territory with an original pristine dial.

So would you say pink gold is the rarest? The one currently on sale at Christie's looks beautiful, but 6k is a tad too much to shell out at this time for a vintage piece for me.

Pink is probably the least made, yes.
