Greetings, I purchased this watch in New York in 1978. It has worked flawlessly since then. I recently broke the crystal and need to replace it. I have been presented with a dilema... I have searched online for a JLJ similar to this to no avail. Is this a fake? When I purchased it I was told it was an "Adonis" model. It is 14K gold and has 52 diamonds. I know JLC has had many models that were made & never reissued so hope springs eternal...any information you may have would be very helpful. Thank you in advance. |

I did a word search in the forum for any model named "Adonis" just now and there was one from July 02, 2005 - 07:59 PM which mentioned it was a ladies watch and had an integrated band. It was sold in 1969 and had a textured gold face (which mine does)and sold for $550.00. The one in the post apparently had a red face but was most likely painted. Mine is definately a mens watch and does have the integrated band but unfortunately there were no photos with the post from back then. There was no mention of the 52 diamond surround however so I am still stumped. |

Looking for any insight at all on this. Zaf & Ilja, any thoughts at all as to approximate age & value? I want to know if it is worth getting a new crystal or should I scrap it for the gold & diamonds and get something a little more contemporary. |

Honestly, I don't think it's going to be a ton of money over scrap in terms of valuation. Probably dates to the early 1970s. It MAY be a re-case or at a minimum it has a custom bracelet. |

Zaf, thanks for the input. Pretty much what I was thinking. Since there is almost 4 oz of 14k gold in the watch I will scrap it and get myself something from this century. I just wanted to be sure it was not some rare collectors edition first. I will now have to keep my eye out for a nice Memovox. |

Get it scraped, maybe just take out the movement and sell it seperately, can fetch another $50 depending on what is inside. |
