First of all I'm new to the forum...Just picked up a vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox. 489 Caliber. movement serial 669564. Wondering if anyone could tell me when it was made and have you ever seen one of these with this dial design and fancy barrel lugs?

Thanks Zaf...Everything on this watch works but I can't wind the watch with the bottom crown. I get a clicking noise but it won't wind the mainspring. Is that something my local watchmaker can fix or would it be better to send it to you? and what would something like that cost to have repaired?

Are there any records on how many of these pieces were made and what would a fair value be for this watch? I have been able to find plenty of newer models but I haven't come across any 3150 case designs for sale.

Last time I asked, the factory didn't know how many 3150s were made. If you ever figure it out, please post the info here.

Zaf...or anybody else out there, would you be able to give me an insurance value for this watch. I've checked the archives and there has never been an "actual" value for a 3150 that is all original and I've been unable to find any auctions/private sales to give me an idea of what this guy is worth?

I just bought an almost exact 'brother' as your watch Chris. Serial number movement 669278 with calibre 489 , case number 518671. I found out that the tubular lugs were only present on the reference 3150, however the reference is nowhere to be found on the watch. http://jlc.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-2/pi-4347728/ti-681133/s--2/t-jlc-the-very-first-memovoxthe-ref-3150/

Pieter you have a beauty! The lugs are what caught my attention. They are very unique looking. I have looked online...in books...under my couch and haven't been able to find out much on the 3150's.

It's pretty amazing how much of that information is lifted from my book! Just sayin'.

Info on this reference is rare indeed. I was attracted by the odd shape of the lugs and was a bit worried about the authenticity with regards to the movement's date. Based on the serial number of your watch and mine (which happen to be very close) I had some clue.
The moderator from the watchprosite JLC part (named Amico or Nicolas) came back today to me that it was a genuine one from 1950. Confirms your watch as well. Never seen anything alike on any website, your the first...talking about rare!
Good luck with it.

Hmmm... do we tolerate mentioning "watchprosite" here?
Well we do, while that is not the case vice versa.
Mr Wiseguy does not like people to find the original sources of 'his' wisedom. Wired ethics. ;)

His wisdom came very cheaply! We actually had to bust our asses gathering the information. The book covers this reference in good detail actually, years before it appeared on any internet sites.

I was unaware of the situation, was just looking for info. What a vintage watch can teach you :-)
Thanks Zaf and Ilja for taking this the way you do. I now the original source so thanks for that, glad I do. I will get myself a copy of it as well!

Pieter, if you don't mind me asking...what did you pay for your watch? I picked mine up from a local thrift store in good ol' Sacramento, CA for $400. I saw it and couldn't pass it up for that price!
