Useful forum, hoping someone can help - my E855 Memovox is missing the pin on the reverse of the caseback against which the alarm hammer strikes.

Is this an easy thing to replace or repair?

It is usually not a big deal. Requires some welding though.

Thank you - is it just a piece of stainless rod?

Basically yes. The steel back pins tamper into the hole with a screw thread (about 2 threads) but still need to be tack welded on. The gold ones are welded on.

I should also ask - is there a source of replacement pins for a steel-cased watch, or are the dimensions of the pin available?

My watchmaker wasn't willing to consider replacement without knowing exactly what should be fitted.

It is just a pin. Any parts house will have stainless pins in a variety of diameters for the repair of bracelets for example. This is not complicated problem.

Thanks, I'll see if I can find someone willing to take it on.
