Hi, can anyone here date the production year of the following SS Geomatic (E399 K881G):

Movement No.: 1586XXX
Case No.: 883XXX

Your help in this regard would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ted

Hi Ted,

I can only tell you that it was produced sometime between 1962 and 1968, and that there were a total of 1,700 made in steel.

I'm sure that JLC would be able to date it specifically.

It's a fine watch (I have one as well), and if you have a photo, we'd love to see it!

Regards,

Tony

Thank you for your information, Zaf.

By the way, could you expect when your book will be released? Really looking forward to it.

Regards,

Ted

I don't know yet, had a snafu with JLC regarding their cooperation for a while, but it is sorted out now.

That is very good news indeed Zaf that the communication with JLC is re-established and the book is WIP again, as you can imagine that I (and many other 'serious' JLC enthusiasts) have been 'slightly deceived' to say the least, by the official JLC book.

I am sure there is definitely a place for a more confidential, less glamorous but deeper book, which yours surely will be.

I will patiently wait a few more years :-)

Keep up with the good work on the book

Dear Zaf,
that is very good news indeed!
I guess Mr. Colognis book about JLC must have been a bitter disappointment to all who expected more than just a book to flip through once and put it on the coffeetable after that.
And if JLC cooperates your book will not only be enlightening to read because of your profound knowledge of vintage JLCs but can be glamorous too (assuming that JLC provides you with some of the pictures already provided to Mr. Cologni).
I am looking forward to that - and make a reservation herewith!
