Hello everyone. I recently received the JLC Memovox pictured below as an heirloom from my grandfather. It had been sitting in a cupboard drawer for about 15 years and was missing the lower crown. Needless to say, it was not keeping time properly. I brought the watch to a reputable watchmaker here in Berlin for repairs. It now runs wonderfully, but the replacement crown he found, while functional, doesn't match very well. I realize from reading other threads that the chance of finding an authentic JLC crown for this watch are slim, but can anyone point me in the direction of another crown that would be a better fit? The watchmaker (who incidentally had at least 3 vintage Memovoxes for sale in his shop) estimated the value of the watch at 2,500 Euro. Is there any truth to that? I assumed something about half that based on other threads here. The watch is gold plated (filled?) on the front with a stainless steel back. The dial diameter measures 37mm. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. |

Actually, it is a solid gold top whith steel back. Short of finding an original crown, which is difficult, the best this is to replace both crowns with identical unsigned crowns that resemble the size of the original. Value of these watches is more like 1500 Euro. |

Thanks for the prompt reply, Zaf. Is there a particular crown size or specification I should be looking for? I assume not all fit. |
