I received it from my mother and it hadn't been used in several decades. Belonged to her grandfather. I am 44 so do the math.
I will be grateful if someone could give me any info. Here are some pics:

AFAIK it is a cal 438

Unfortunately some butcher had his way with the dial. I would love to put my hands on an identical one in good shape. That is what is keeping me from having the watch serviced including a mainspring replacement.

The movement dates to 1942-43, though it may have been cased a little later. Finding a dial would be difficult, you can only refinish what you have, Since it looks pretty gone, refinishing it would not adversely impact value. 438 is a good guess though it may be cal. 424. Differences are very subtle so you'd need to study them against your movement.
