Hi. My dad had a collection of vintage watches. He recently passed away and I got to choose a watch. I chose this LeCoultre. Has anyone seen this one before? The watch is in exceptional shape, and says 10K Gold Filled on the back (also LeCoultre, nothing more). I made the mistake of wearing it a few days and scratched the crystal by the 1 on the dial. What would it be worth as an original timepiece? Some of Dad's watches in his collection have documentation as being in the mid 50's to early 60's but I'm not sure on this watch.

Addendum: finally found a program to resize my photos to your specifications correctly, so here is the whole watch! It keeps good time and the alarm works also.

I have had that alarm model several times before. It dates to the late 1950s, value is around $400-600.

Thanks. Is it possible the scratch on the crystal be buffed out?

How much will that cost to have it done Zaf? I am thinking if somebody isn't extremely careful the gold plating could get buffed off. Is the best way to do this remove the crystal. Or how does a pro do it? If the crystal is removed there is a reseal that needs doing I'm assuming.

Just replace the crystal, the original ones are plastic anyways. It would not effect value.

Using the right buffing compound would not impact the plating either.

Either proposition should be < $15.
