Hello, I am new to this forum and to JLC watches. I was interested in JLC watches, especially vintage Memovoxes from the 50s and 60s. As I could figure out, the watches for the European market that are signed "Jaeger LeCoultre" usualy demand higher prices than those for the US market that are signed only "LeCoultre". Is this a rule and if so is there a reason for this if in fact the watches have the same movement and are made in the same factory? Or the US ones are unadjusted as marked on the movement? And is there a signifficant difference in price between stainless steel cases and gold cases for the same watch? Thank you very much! Mihai |

This topic has been discussed many times before, so I will be brief. Generally speaking, the LeCoultre brand for the USA market, used USA made contract cases, which especially for gold filled pieces are considered less collectible due to the perceived lower quality. In 18k and steel, the cases are frequently the same, though the prices of a USA watch will still remain lower due to the quality perception. |
