I attach here a favorite watch from my collection. It is an 18k hunting case 'Beaumont' minute repeater. The movement kees good time & has a very crisp repeating mechanism. The case is set with about 1.75ct mine cut diamonds (these may be after market) and the case has rich blue guilloche enamel. However, the case does not close properly (could be the hinge, could be something else I guess) and there is damage to the enamelwork. My questions are: - If the watch case was plain, I think it would be quite possible to get it fixed so that it closed properly. However, since its enamelled, I don't know if this can now be done. - Is there anyone who can restore the enamel, once the case has been repaired? - Is this better off left 'original' rather than go through the risk & expense of a restoration? Comments appreciated.
