I got an older watch as a Christmas present, but unfortunately it's stopped working. Now I'm looking for the right repair person and some information about this watch. This is what I know: The face says "Dichiwatch", "17 Rubis" and "Swiss". Both case back and band are stamped "18k" and "750". The serial number on the back of the case is "327151". I have not looked at the movement, but the case seems to be of good quality - the detailing is not shoddy and there are no places where the gold has worn through to reveal a base-metal core. The watch was purchased in Germany and I have found only a few websites even mentioning Dichiwatch - all in Italian or French. I would be grateful for any tips, leads or answers! Bryn

I would suggest taking the watch to a local watchmaker, perhaps as recommended by your jeweler. Based on your description, it looks as if the watch may be 18K solid gold, so that would explain why there is no wear through on the case or band. The jeweler can tell you for sure. Never heard of the brand before, but this looks like a generic Swiss watch from the 1950's, of which huge numbers were made for export. Hope this helps, gatorcpa |
