I'm hoping I could get some advice on a replacement crown for a manual wind '50's Omega Seamaster.

Living in rural Australia it's very hard to inspect vintage watches without traveling for may hours or even days to check a watch . So horror of horrors I just bought my first vintage watch from an online dealer. It is now on its way to me in the mail

To cut a long story short I'll be giving it to a local "old time" watchsmith in our little town for inspection and service. Nice old guy, but tends to move in an era gone by ;) So I'd like to expediate the work.

The first most obvious work is to change the non-genuine crown to a NOS or used crown. To get the ball rolling I thought I could buy one from an ebay dealer who has 100% feedback, but I'm not sure which is correct for this watch.

I found various "Omega" crowns on the dealers ebay site with diameters ranging from 6mm to 3mm and a few in between differing by only .1 of a mm.

I know I could be asking a question that may be impossible to answer without serial numbers. Dealer info says, serial number 15572212 -dates 1956

Any advice on the specs of this crown would be appreciated ?

With thanks
Andy

Another question I have regards the dial of this watch. I notice that the light green dot over the 12 is not centered. Could this point to the dial being repainted at some time ?

Your search for a crown begins with identifying which case reference you have. This information is usually stamped on the inside of the case back.

re: the dial, does it say "Swiss" or "Swiss made" at 6:00?
