This watch I inherited from my brother-in-law, it's an Eterna-matic 3000, solid yellow gold, original crown, aperture for date at 3 o'clock, signed satin dial, applied gold bar markers, ultra-thin, Swiss.
Does anyone have information about the history of this watch?

(The other watch I inherited is the Buren Hamilton.)

Not sure I can help on the Eternamatic 3000 per se, but my understanding is that Eterna produced the first commercially successul full rotor automatic that incorporated ball bearings in its design. These are symbolized but the five balls on the crowns of the watches.

Thanks Zaf,
Yes, there are five balls on the crown of the watch, and on the buckle too
But is the watch from 1960's and is it special in his kind, because it was the first flat full roto automatic ?

The 3000 model was first produced in 1962, and was continued for many years. It is very nice as you write and ultraflat, the flattest rotor watch the moment it came, and the movement is still used as basis for ETA in newer versions.

I love that 3000

I have an Eterna Matic 3000 7 day with day date gold hands etc.
I wear it everyday and is a good solid automatic watch.
For reference only what sort of value are these watches

Depending on condition of course. With day or date, working quick set of date, working automatic, original crown nice stainless case - they sell on Ebay at around 250 - 300 $, day date can go a little higher, solid gold 350 to 550 - original buckle not so usual, so brings it up a little - new "replica models" can be bought in shops, sell for a lot more, with in principle the same movement - keep them and enjoy them, they were together with the Omega seamaster of that time the best in automatic watches I think.
Today of course, Eterna is the basis of the worlds biggest movement manufacturer ETA having Valjoux and many of all the old famous mavement makers under them, together with Swatch group and Porche design by the way.
Here is a beatifull old (around 1938 chrono from Eterna - with Valjoux 22, nothing to do with the 3000 - but I just are having this on my arm today

Good old Eterna valjoux 22 from round 1938

My best estimate (and that of Joseph watches too) is that it is from around 1938 - could be 34, not older and 41 - not newer, perfect conditon - original dial - stainless steel - 40 mm diamter - small mark on the dial on the edge arond 11, but apart from that nice, and goes well
br from Denmark and John (we are up against Sweden tomorrow in Porto, and I am sitting in Frankfurt airport, waiting for a Swedish friend. He will be on the Swedish stands, I on the Danish, and after the match we may kill eachother
:-) Why not then upload an Eterna Matic 3000 - here a rather unusual Black dial with gold cap I bought from India a few years ago. Also nice

Black dial gold cap eterna matic date 3000

Fantastic logs (where the band is attached do not remember the name) but they are great really
Probably also around the same time, certainly before 1944 I would say John

I'm not 100% sure, but it's probably something that celebrates their 100th anniversary (so 1856-1956)
