A plea for help!

I am presently working in China and have recently purchased four watches for the grand total of 5 pounds.

The watches are:

1) Enicar Seapearl Ultrasonic
2) Wega Incabloc (has the code 23900 stamped on the back). This is in really poor condition but does seem to work.
3 & 4) Two Shanghai brand Chinese watches. One working, one completely seized.

Any information about any of these watches would be greatly appreciated. I would like to know how old the Enicar and Weba are (if that is at
all possible) and if they have any value. I can find very little information about Shanghai watches. The two I have are very nice looking
watches and I would guess they date from around 1960. If you have any information about these that would be wonderful.

Regards

Dear David

I have many times tried to find information about Shanghai's great watch past. I presume the problem is the language, I am sure there would be quite a bit of information, but most likely online only in Mandarin.

Here is a Shangai Made automatic I bought in China in 1998, next to the Shanghai main station. Spent a lot of time convincing the sales girls that I wanted an automatic and not a quartz watch...

As soon as SARS is under control I am planning to visit China again to find some of the old factories.

Right most watch is from Shangai Diamond Watch Company, ca. 120 RMB

Best regards

In Indonesia I have come across a lot of Mao waving his hand, "hello", watches.

They only appear to be of novelty value, but they are a lot of fun just the same.
