I would like to have my father's 1940's gold filled Bulova repaired. It needs no cosmetic restoration - only mechanical. Since it has little monetary value (only emotional value) are there reasonably priced repairs that can be done? I am in the Baltimore area.

Not sure, you can try the AWI referal directory at:

http://www.awi-net.org/directory/

They should have a few places in your area.

I recently purchased a Bulova tank watch that I was told was of an early 1940's vintage. I discovered some info stamped on the back of the case that may yield more knowledge about date of manufacture and possibly other details and wonder if someone could help me out. The number stamped on the back of the case is: 7568114.
The other side of the case back has this stamped on it: '10kt goldfilled Bulova'. It is a rectangular tank style, 36mm x 21mm, with dark blue hands and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6-oclock. Thanks for your help.

Hi. I don't think you're going to able to date a Bulova from case serial #s. If you can post a picture, we can guesstimate age.
