My father has passed on to me a Le Jour chronograph that he purchased in the late 60's early 70's while he was in the Marine Core. It sat in his jewlry box for ages. It is in Great condition, or at least personally I think it is in great condition. He said he had it serviced about three years but clearly needs another tune up. It works but it runs about 5 min slow each day. My first question is how do I go about finding its value to see if it would be even worth the investment to get it fixed. Secondly, how do I find a qualified craftsman to do the work. Any and all help is much appreciated. I am definately more than just a little green when it comes to knowledge of time pieces.

Zaf,
I am just getting into luxury watches so you will have to forgive my ignorance or incorrect terminology in my description.

Here is the information that is supplied on the watch, either on the face or on the back of the case:
17 jewel, incabloc, stainless steel, antimagnetic, 20 atmosphere.

Furthermore, it is a Chronograph with black bezel and a black face and requires manual daily winding of the watch. Thanks again for your response.

My question is, does it have 2 sub dials on the dial or 3? This will have a big impact on its value.

It has 3 subdials. One is a sweeping hand second counter. The other two activate when starting the stop watch action, one dial for counting minutes in increments of 5, and the other counting hours through 1-12.

Hard to give exact value without seeing a photo, but on a steel 3 dial chrono, if it has good cosmetics, on a brand like "Lejour" it would probably sell in the $500-700 range. Just a ballpark figure.

I will try to attach a pic to this post. Gotta say, it is hard to get a picture that shows true condition of the watch. The flash keeps reflecting in the face. Zaf, if you wouldn't mind posting or emailing an email address to me ,if my attachment doesn't work, I could email the pics to your address. Thanks for your helpfulness

Unfortunately, I think the pictures make the watch look in worse condition than what it truly is. I hope they help. Thanks again

Assuming it looks a little better than the photos, I think the $500-700 ballpark is about right. You'd need to know what movement is in there to know if it's more of a $500 thing or more of a $700 thing.
