Would like to add photos but I can't, and there's are reason for it; in my little town there's an old watchmaker that sometimes helps me changing a broken glass and do a cleaning job. He's over 85 and keeps a small work shop just to have something to do. After 1 year of dealing with this man he suddenly went to his safe and took out two interesting pieces 1) Is a Patek Philippe pocket watch, really big maybe 7,5 cm across. From what he said it is from 1918. It's in absolutely excellent condition, and they (he and his father) used from 1945 to time other watches until they got the electronic equipment. 2) Is a Vacheron (not Vacheron - Constantin)pocket watch from about 1870 (he guessed)with a key windup system. What was special (to me at least) was the movement, it is all decorated eg. engraved, all visible parts that is. Does this raise the price ? So, I know this can't be answered excactly but where should one start making him an offer ??? That is - not cheating him or be cheated ?? Both watches were bought at an auction after the German surrender, and both these were confiscated from german soldiers/officers and sold by the government. Any clue, any idea any guess would help. AND he wouldnt let me take photos of them, yet at least, thats why I can't upload them. Abba |

Please try to post photos, it is quasi impossible to sp3eculate on text only. Use the Upload attachment button below. The Patek may be worth a lot if it's that's big. |

I'd have to see it. If it's that big, might be a lot more. There is way too much variation to speculate. |
