Greetings - new user to the watch world and have come across several Longines watches from my grandfater, not interested in selling, but interested in finding out more about the watches, what should my first step be? Many Thanks!

Some suggestions:

1. Take the watches to a watchmaker. Have the cases opened and take pictures of the dials, inside caseback and the movement.

2. Go to this website:

http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/

This is a site dedicated to vintage Longines watches. There are several hundred pictures of different models and a tool for finding the date of production based on the movement serial number.

3. Post the pictures here. Zaf knows a lot about these watches.

Hope this helps,
