This is what we have on Tissot:

Charles Tissot & Fils was founded in Le Locle, one of the major watchmaking centres of Switzerland, in 1853. During the nineteenth century, the firm flourished, producing watches of fine quality, winning the Gold Medal of Geneva, in 1896, and the Grand Prix of Paris, in 1900. Charles-Emile Tissot was himself appointed a member of the jury for the famous 1889 World Exhibition of Paris (for which the Eiffel Tower was built), which, by itself, suggests the prestige earned by the firm, during the 1800's. Tissot's first wrist watch, an elongated rectangle with exaggerated numbers, appeared in 1917, and series production began shortly afterwards, in 1920. Technical innovations were progressively introduced: the anti-magnetic watch (1930), the first full self-winding movement (1944), the PR sports line (1956), the development of a standard calibre (1960) and the production of the first watch with a plastic movement (1971). A multi-function quartz cronograph with a digital and analogue display was introduced in 1978, and developed afterwards, namely in the PR series. Tissot produced some novelties (like the Rock Watch, of 1985) and replicas, both of pocket watches (including the so-called Tsar's watch, of 1904) and wrist watches (the latest of which is the Tissot Lisboa, a limited edition in the style of the 1930's, with 499 numbered pieces in 18 K. yellow gold and 9999, in stainless steel). (Tissot should not be confused with Mathey-Tissot, founded in 1886).

As far as value, I'd say $175-$250 unless there are a lot of diamonds & rubies on it.

Actually, if you browse our catalog, many brands have histories. You just need to click on the brand name.

I have a pocket watch belonging to my great-aunt. It has the name Emil Tissot on it and a number N94-809. An engraving on one side of a water fountain and two birds. Can anyone tell me anything about this watch?
