what watch case maker was assigned number three (3), stamped in the key hallmark on the inside of solid gold watch cases, era 30's, 40's and the location of manufacture. |

Still coming back to the forum to ask questions after you made all those nasty remarks about Zaf in email? You called him a "non american" and a "sissy from india" (wrong ethnic background, by the way) who "thinks he knows it all" and "can't give straight answers"? Then, when I told you that your comments about Zaf were offensive and out of line, you started spamming my email addresses with more insults and crazy rants. I'm certainly not inclined to offer you help and I doubt others will either. |

didnt ask for your advice gregb, i was hoping a true expert on swiss watches would have an answer, as you, by your comments, proves you are not. and o yea, i dont spam anything, except for the stuff in a can. i've read all your threads in this forum going back to 2005, and it appears you are the crazy one, based on various posts of yours. you just want to sell fake buckles, when in 2006 you dogged a company for doing the very same thing. what gives greg. keep it to the subject line, not your own foolish posts. and again, to anyone who knows, what does the key hallmark with the three (3) stamped in it refer to, in particular, company name and location, era 30's~40's.

Nice try at slander. I've never sold a fake buckle in my life, and those who follow my posts on this forum know that I have absolutely zero tolerance for fakes of any kind. |

Driver8660 I'm not sure what the issue is here exactly, but you seem to be very demanding of people that during their own personal time, give out information for free. To answer your question regarding the numeral inside of a key, it relates to the thickness of the gold on the case back. I think it is in millimeters. So a 3 or a 3/10s would be a case that has a wall of 0.3 mm. This is so that people would not thin the case out and keep its gold. It is not a manufacturer mark. |

just seeking the truth. tick-talk Favorite Saying: "Though we attain not yet we shall have shared Together, for a space, the bread and wine, Have stood together on the peak of dreams And seen far off the mystic city shine." Ethel Clifford, 1903 Poinon de Matre Hi all! Prior to leaving for a few weeks on vacation, I'd like to share this information recently received from the Swiss Assay Office regarding the case markings on wrist watches. Since 1934, all precious metal watch cases made or imported into Switzerland must carry a responsibility mark or poinon de matre to easily identify the case maker and won't be found on buckles or bracelets. Members of l'Union suisse pour l'Habillage de la Montre (USH) use one of six collective responsibility marks, or Poinon de Matre Collectif. and they are: No.1 Hammer-head or hammer without handle, No. 2 Hammer with handle, No. 3 Marquee, No. 4 Crossbow, No. 5 Key, and No. 6 Shield. The actual case maker is identified by a two or three digit number inside the symbol. Two digits usually signifies a maker from Geneva. For example, this is the Key mark from a 1950's piece. Together with the "23", it identifies the case maker as Eggly & Cie from Geneva. Poinon de Matre No.1, Hammer-head: 2 F. yes, you are right, I confused the key with the thickness stamp, visible in this photo: http://www.classicwatch.com/graphics/rx0692ib.jpg I don't know who 3 is. Proabably either JLC iself or Hermetica, SA who made their gold reverso cases. |
