I recently mailed a vintage IWC Yacht Club to New York to have a broken bezel replaced. They've informed me that it must be sent to Switzerland for service. I know it depends on what service has to be performed, but does anyone have an idea of what IWC will charge for this service if just the bezel has to be replaced? I have no experience with IWC Switzerland service. The cost of shipping alone is $100. I would like to know what to expect before returning approval for shipment to Switzerland. All input will be apprectiated!

From what I've heard, it's going to be around $1000.

Which IWC do you have?

Mid 70's Yacht Club in stainless, automatic cal 8541b, with date, on original bracelet. $1000, is a lot for a bezel ring! I don't know if I'm ready to put that much into it. What are you basing this information on?

I mean the Service PLUS the bezel ring will run around $1000, I don't think they'll sell you the part alone.

Thanks for clarifying that. I recently had the movement serviced. I know that some watch companies are particular about what goes through their service department. Is IWC one of those companies? All I really want is the bezel replaced! Do you think they will do it that way or do you think they will require a FULL service, thus the $1000, you referred to before? I will have way too much invested in the watch if they won't replace just the bezel. I appreciate the prompt replies!

I really do not know. You'll get some degree of randomness in what they say generally. I'll say that they will NOT replace any component part w/o servicing it first, but maybe if you throw a fit, they'll just sell you the bezel.
