My partner really likes my 1966 Omega Constellation and wants me to get her a vintage watch as well. Ladies vintage watches generally seem to be too small, generally having a case measuring 20mm or less (not including crown). It seems to make sense that some smaller mens watches would be ideal for women.
Given that my Constellation is 36mm diameter and too big for her, what size case do you think is generally ideal for a women and can you suggest some watches that are smaller but don't look too "masculine"
thanks

isn't this somehow a link to a commercial sale of a watch of which we are cretiquing as horologists? I'm confused. Maybe i need to read the rules again.
If this is an acceptable venue to sell watches, I have hundreds for sale. I thought we were dealing with horology and history of watches, not yet another venue to sale watches. Again, please if I've not read the fine print, i have hundreds of quality watches for sale which i would love to offer. ...but i didn't think this was the venue.

Correct, I have this site up to help people, not to create a sales venue that could potentially impact my own business of selling watches, so, yes, no items for sale or links to live auctions, thanks.

I am not trying to sell a watch, merely asking for advice on finding a vintage watch suitable for a lady. Most Vintage female watches are very small. I realise that this is a site purely for helping people, and learning about vintage watches, and I have learned a lot already from reading the posts. It is a great resource.

Tubarob,

Zaf and William are talking about a post that was removed. The removed post was from an international seller trying to sell you a watch in response to your initial post.

In response to your original question, the size watch a woman prefers is entirely up to her. This is going to be a personal style choice and not something that somebody can give you a definitive answer for. I know lots of women who wear vintage men's wristwatches since modern women's watches have set the trend for larger watches.

I have a vintage ladies watch that I inherited and would like to know more about it.
All I know is that it is a "Walton" by the "Champ Watch Co. of Switzerland"
It has 17 jewels, 2 adjustments. It is a wrist watch but resembles a pocket watch. I have pics. Excellent condition. It has numbers on the back cover plate and a number stamped into the side of it and the Name "Banner" stamped into the inside of the backer plate. I am interested in findout approx age and a general value for insurance purposes.

If it's gold it's worth the gold content, if not it doesn't sound like it has any collector value.

It is rose gold. I had seen the works only on another site in non working condition (parts only) for $35 US whereas this is fully functional excellent condition and keeps great time etc. It had belonged to a watch collector whose collection was mainly pocket watches and this one because it was unique. The back is hinged like the pocket watch to get at the works, the face comes off like a pocket watch, the winding mechanism is at the top as with a pocket watch (not on the side like a wrist watch)
Does anyone know where I could get info on the company, I tried googling it but nothing comes up. I was just curious to know more. All I know is what the collector had told me and what is actually on the watch.

Here is a pic of the back cover and works. Notice it resembles that of a pocket watch but is in fact a wrist watch.

I don't think we're looking at something very valuable.

hello, what a great site. i have been searching for info on a relide 18k gold case and mesh band wristwatch.it is rectangular with the numbers;
18k,0750,129,693 on the back. the gold face reads relide, ancre 15 rubis, swiss made.
the mechanics read, antimagnetic, fifteen jewels, swiss made. the numbers seem to be an art deco design but i haven't been able to date it as yet. i have only found one reference to relide as an indepedant watchmaker pre 1940.this watch is in good working order and is simply stylish.any info regu, arding value date and history would be appreciated even if its only worth its scrap.as a beginner, i have had fun looking for a while now. thank you

As a gold filled watch, it's not going to have much value, if that is the information you're after. The brand name is probably that of a jeweler or a store.
