Hi

I have inherit an Antique/vintage Cortebert pocket watch, but i havent been available to find out what model it is, or if its even an original Cortebert watch. So i hope you guys and gals can help me out.

Marked, front:
Cortebert
Incabloc
Anti Magnetic
Swiss Made

Marked, back(inside of the "lid):
(Some kind of rectangual symbol) with the marking [0,800]underneath it. At the top of the "lid.
(Symbol of a crescent moon and next to it a kings crown)To the right of the "lid.
[FFBA43] marked at the left on the "lid.
2839419 with IMP. marked at the bottom of the "lid.

Marked, backside of the watch itself:
Cortebert Watch (1^0 Not sure if it is the number 1 with a elevated 0) In the middle.
Around the Cortebert Watch marking there is coins? with varius pic. and with "kant aus thun", "thun 1899" and "republicue francaise" marked on the coins?.
(I dont have a pic. on the back of the watch itself yet, but it will come.)

Kind Regards
Sam

Hi, the watch looks like a genuine Cortebert pocket watch, made of sterling. I don't think it'll have a model name necessarily.

Ok, thanks alot Zaf!
So older watches do not necessarily have specific model names, i know some have... but i am totaly fresh on this territory.

I have gently polished the metal and cleaned it thurouly, now when its shining it is as you say prob. mostly sterling.
However it seams to me that it is goldplated(?) on the "rims of the "lids. And so is the base of the piece that you set the time etc. But the top of it and the ring that can be connected to a chain is gold.

I also have a chain in gold that came with it but its hard to tell if the chain itself has been replaced. The connecting pieces at both sides of the chain is however "correct.

Any ides if there are any Cortebert watch archives anywhere, to see their older productions.

Kind Regards
Sam

I don't have any specific information on Cortebert. Often, sterling cased watches had some trim, either in copper or gold to accent the piece, usally around the crystal. The bow you have also seems original to the watch. That's all I know.
