Hello. I recently purchased a Fairfax, 17J unadjusted, Swiss-made chronograph. It is a two-register model (at 9 and 3) with flat pushers. I just had it serviced (cleaned and adjusted, because it was running fast and the pushers stopped working). It keeps perfect time now, but the top pusher starts the chrono function and I have to push the bottom to stop it, and then push the bottom again to return the hand. Shouldn't the top start AND stop, and the bottom return ONLY? Could this have been altered during the service? Obviously, I'm a Wearer and no expert! Any help will be much appreciated, so thanks in advance.

What does the top button do if you press it, after you've stopped the chrono with the bottom button?

It starts it (the second hand) again.

Sounds like it may need a tweak. It's sort of hard to tell w.o having it in hand.

Thanks Zaf. Am I correct in understanding that the top should start and stop and the bottom should return--on most (or standard) two register, two button chronos?

Generally yes, though some chronos do not behave that way, by design.

Your chronograph looks like a Landeron cal. 48 movement, or one of several derivatives.

I have a similar example and your watch is functioning normally. I don't think it can (or should) be "tweaked".

It's fine as is.

Take care,
