Hello I was hoping one of the experts could help identify and value my hand-me-down Universal Aero Compax. Approx 40mm diameter case excl crown, unmarked screw back case (which I cannot open) and signed crown. The hands all have a blue metalic sheen when eluminated. Any info would be most appreciated including date and reference number. Thanking you in advance. Paul

It is late 1960s. Value probably around $1500. This is less desirable than the earlier models that had a fourth sub-dial with 24 hr display. |

Thanks for your response. I guessed it was sixties as the style of the hands match those on the Tri Compax watches that I have seen. I have found in the past that by searching the net extensively enough one generaly finds a similar if not identical model. This one however has eluded me and to date I cannot find anything similar. The closest I came was an Aero Compax with a white 24 hour dial and 24 hour bezel. I will have to get to the watchmaker and have the back opened to see what it reveals. Regards Gavin |

I think normally that model Aero Compax should have that gray/white a 24 hr bezel. Are you sure that bezel is original to the watch? The type of bezel on there can now be used for departure and "mission" time, but it's more typically seen on dive watches. |

Hi Zaf - I have no idea about the bezel and I did wonder if it was correct. It is damaged close to the 12 hour marker and mishapen. This was one of the reasons I wanted to identify the piece so that I could then start searching for the correct replacement bezel. I find it to be an attractive watch and worth trying to restore. If you have a picture or could identify the correct bezel I would like to know. Thanks and regards Gavin |
