I have a Bulova of uncertain age, a Wrist Alarm that was given to me by a relative in 1977. Underneath the 6 it says "SWISS," it's a wind-up with the winder for the alarm at the 4 position. Stainless steel Flex-Let band, and now the weird part: The number on the back is C715495. That goes against the numbering system set by Bulova, and the fine customer service folks attending the phones at Bulova were no help. Any idea why the odd number, what it means, age? Not really even looking for a value, just trying to figure out why the number would be so odd. |

Sorry, I don't know. By 1977 the watch industry was in turmoil due to the Quartz revolution, so it is entirely possible that the traditional numbering system was dumped around that time. |

This predates '77, since it was one of his "old watches." |

Sorry, I was thinking Accutron. I don't think there is anything weird about a vintage Bulova Alarm just having a serial number of sound kind that does not correspond to the Alpha numerics that one is used to. |

Hmmm. Doesn't get me any closer to establishing an age on this thing. The nice folks at Bulova responded like I'd asked them to cuddle a leper when I gave them the number. |

Does it have a wiggly alarm pointer hand? Do you have a picture? |

OK, thanks for the photo. There is nothing unusual about this style of watch not having the tradition numbering system. It most likely dates to the late 1950s/early 1960s. |

That helps! Thank you! I hadn't found anything online saying anything other than they all conform to that numbering system. The folks at Bulova should have known this, I would think. |

If I were to guess, it only applied to American made cases not the Swiss ones. |
