Hi there,

I have an old pocket watch which is posing a few problems as to origin.

The movement is Doxa 18.5" Calibre but the casing is German silver with a Junghans maker stamp and model number and serial number (40 and C386744)

Any idea of the reason for this? Did Junghans ever use Doxa Calibres? Or has someone just replaced the case or the calibre at some point in time?

It was passed down to me from my grandparents and it hasn't been until now that I have decided to look in to the origins of the watch.

Any comments welcome...
Thanks
JTG

Ps - tried to upload photos of the dial, movement and casing stamps but couldn't

Manage to upload the photos.

Now looking for any comments if possible.

As you will see it is in bad need of restoration and that's the next step, finding someone, somewhere who is up to the task.

Cheers
J

Normally Doxa has their own cases. If anything it would simply not bear a mark at all rather than be stamped Junghans. It looks like a marriage to me...
