This antique pocket watch has very little to id where it came from. It has some marks engraved on the inside of the back cover, but nothing printed out. How can I tell where it came from and date it?

The first thing to look for on a watch that has no markings is:

1. Is it gold?
2. If it is gold, it's likely to be hallmarked in some manner that will identify the coutry of the case's origin. FOr example a ladies head for Swiss 18k gold, a squirel for Swiss 14k gold, an eagle head for French 18k gold, etc. After the origin is confirmed, we'll need a scan of the movement to try to determine the movement manufacturer.
