Hello

I have an old Oris, with a second round marker on the dial, and an extra hand for marking the days, that is, it has a calendar
all around the dial. It is all in very good working condition, including the calendar.
The movement seems to be original; with "swiss made", "7 jewells" and "cal 453" written on it, and it is signed "Oris watch Co" on the inside of the back case, but there is no other serial number neither on the movement nor on the back case,
unless "cal 453" was the serial number ( cal for calendar ? ).
The only problem this watch has, is a scratch on the dial between the 2 and 4 golden numbers, at the right, which doesn´t affect these numbers, only the surface of the dial, but it has some numbers of the round calendar faded near there.
The "swiss made" on the dial, below, is rather faded, too, and the inside of the back case shows some scratches.
Other scratches seen in the dial picture I´m sending, are only on the crystal surface, and not on the dial ( the crystal can be replaced ).
Could the dial be repainted on the scratched and faded parts, is it worth ?.
Has this watch any value as it is ?
Please, see the pictures below.
Thanks.

Sergio Gindel.

This watch in nice condition is worth about $135-150, the relatively low grade 7 jewel movement & plated case is a limiting factor.

I think there is too much wrong with it for it to be worth your effort to restore it. It looks like it needs a case replate, a dial refinish and new hands. The hands on there do not look correct.

I have an Oris Swiss made circa 1950. The watch belonged to my father. I'm interested in knowing more about the Oris brand.

Also have a Nivrel, Swiss made circa 1930's or '40's which belonged to my grandfather.

Any information would be appreciated.
