Can anyone help me please. I have a "Mido Multifort Extra" s'n 0070 on the case between the lugs, which I understand for Mido was made between 1939~1941. The back has the number 550070 on the inside and the movement has the number 5954. The case is approx 29 mm. The numbers 5 and 7 apart from the outer tips are obscured by the sub dial for the seconds. I have attched a few scans of the watch. I believe this watch was my grandfather's. If it was my grandfather's it would have been bought in Germany I am hoping to get the dial restored to its former glory, but I am unable to find any information or pictures of this particular model. It is a manual not one of the auto watches. Many thanks for reading this and in anticipation of any help.

Sorry I did not make myself clear. I am interested in any information about the watch model, especially on the dial, such as the original colour as it is dis-coloured. Although not clear in the pictures the brown on the outside is actual a copper colour as is the logo. The numbering is luminous, as is the hr and min hands. So I am asking if anyone can tell me about the dial as it would have been originally please? Trust this helps. Many thanks |

Hard to tell. Seems like it would have been a Gray, Black & Copper dial 3 tone dial. |

Many thanks for looking. That seems an odd combination of colours. The black and copper I have seen in other Mido Multiforts, but the gray, would the center of the dial dis-coloured over time to a darker colour or shade? Sadly Mido cannot help other than an approx date. For clarity I have removed the movment and taken a scan which is attached.

The dial does appear to be multi-colored with a copper-like background overlaid with black & two shades of gray. However, all this may be somewhat academic. Do you have a re-dialer who can re-do this dial in anything like it's original appearance even if you knew exactly what that was? It's difficult enough to get a decent re-dial even if it's quite clear what the original appearance was. if the re-dialer doesn't have the correct artwork prepare for some significant compromises. |
