I'm thinking about buying a vintage watch on ebay. The buyer states "Runs Great...but due to age no warranty!" I don't know anything about vintage manual Swiss movements but I've never seen one with the part that looks like it has something to do with the adjustment or calibration so out of whack with the movement, in this picture it's not even in the range of the scale
Does anyone know if this is a bad thing or am I worrying about nothing. My only exposure to this are pictures of other watches with similar movements. That part always seems to have the line on the dial in the scale area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

The part you are pointing to, adjusts the starting point of the hair spring. While moving it around does impact timing, the time adjustment is done with the silver stick, that is right above it in the photo. That one is in the +/- range, pointing the the "-" sign. |

So does this look like a functional movement? |

No way to tell from that photo. I can't even see the hairspring, escape wheel, etc. due ti the low resolution. But if the guy says it runs, then it probably does. |
