Hello to all. I'm writing from Canada and I'm hoping that someone out there may be able to provide me with a little more information on a wristwatch that I've got. To begin with, the watch was my grandfathers. He bought it in Romania sometime after 1972. I suspect that the watch is older than that however, given its style. Most who have seen it, including watch repairmen, guess that it was probably manufactured in the 50's or perhaps the 60's. The watch brand is "Atlantic" and the model is the "Worldmaster". It is a Swiss made watch and admitedly is in the lower echelon of watches (ie - no Rolex). In any event, it obviously holds a sentimental value to me and I would really like to get an accurate date. Other date clues include the following terms: "Unbreakable mainspring", "antichoc", "antimagnetic" and "incabloc". If anyone could direct me to a place which has any information at all on "Atlantic" brand watches I would be most appreciative. Thanks again all. Robert Constantinescu. |

Robert: "Incabloc" is the trade name for a certain type of shock resistance. This name was used starting in 1950. So the earliest your watch can be is from 1950, though I suspect, it is probably late 1950s early 1960s with a name like "WorldMaster". Sorry not much more info than that other than I have had a couple of Atlantics and they were fairly nice watches. Zaf |
