hi there, im six month pregnant after years of trying. always wanted to own a nice vintage ladies watch-- way before they became boardroom topics of conversation. we've decided that when my daughter is born im going to give it to myself as gift to pass on to her as a family heirloom later on. as you can imagine, we dont have that much money left to spend but ive been saving for it. we are looking at 2000 to 3000 usa dollars. love brands and styles that cant afford-- patek phillipe, cartier... any ideas of what will hold value and style for years to come? thks. |

I think value wise, if that is one of your primary goals, you're almost better buying a mens watch (as large as you're comfortable with) than a small ladies. Rolex, Cartier, Vacheron or Jaeger are good choices. Not sure the budget will allow for Patek. |

I'll differ a bit with Zaf on this one. The small "cocktail" watches from the 1940's to 1960's are considered out of style now, but who knows what will be in style 20 years from now. I've picked up smaller ladies solid 14K Omega and Movado watches for female family members for under $100 each. The Omega even came with the original box. Figure at least another $100 or so for a service and you'll be set for a number of years: Hope this helps, gatorcpa |
