I found a bulova and a gruen watch at a local garage sale. The women didnt know anything about them but they appear old. The Bulova has tag of Bulova with what appears number 23 under the 12 on the face of the watch. Nothing under the 6, on the back of the watch it says Bulova, 14K Gold, L7 at the top of plate and on the bottom it has numbers U35359. The watch appears, if it's gold to be white gold, I can get pictures of the watch if need be. It's very beautiful and dainty but I am trying to find out about how old and if there is any value to it. The Gruen on the other hand may have been a mass production watch but it appears very old as well. It says Gruen Precision under the 12 but as stated appears about as aged as the Bulova. Any help in identifying the ages of the watches and approximate value is much appreciated. I have attached some photos of the watches in question

The Bulova was made in 1957 as is indicated by the date code L7 (L=1950, M=1960, etc.). The case is 14K white gold. The 23 under Bulova indicates that the movement in the watch has 23 jewels.

Value? You neglect to say whether the watch works and the pictures are really quite poor to evaluate the condition of the watch. In general, these old ladies "cocktail" watches have little value beyond their scrap gold content.

The Gruen watch is around the same age or perhaps somewhat older. It has little value.
