This may seem like an odd question here, but an ancestor of mine was named Frederic Louis Courvoisier and was born in 1814 in Neuchatel, Switzerland. I was told that he came from a line of watch makers. Are there any history buffs out there that could tell me if this true?
It's probably true, though there are many common Swiss names that almost always have a watchmaker in them. There are several Swiss genealogy sites available online that should be able to help you out.
